During the off-season, the team trains and practices at the USA Training Center in Newington, NH. The Facility includes ten batting cages, two actual dirt mounds, multiple tee stations and a 7,000 square foot turf field. This facility allows the team to engage in game simulated situations, regardless of the weather. This is by far the best facility in the state and one of the best in New England. Owner Dave Hoyt, a former St. Louis Cardinal has been more than generous towards the UNH Baseball Program and without his help, off season training wouldn't be possible, for that we thank you!
The Training Center has a staff of professionals and collegiate players, both current and former that offer private and group lessons. Check the USA Training Center website for more information on memberships, clinics, leagues, and more! Don't forget to help support their AAU team, the USA Mavericks! The Mavericks start at U-12 and go all the way to U-17, Go Mavericks!
The Hamel Rec Center which is connected to the Whittemore Center underwent a multi-million dollar renovation in 1995, converting the former Snively Arena to the 104,425 square foot facility it is today. Although the facility has three levels, the team uses the top two floors for practices. The top floor sports three basketball courts with high ceilings and dividers. The team normally has one divider down, which leaves enough space for a full infield on one side, while using the other side for hitting pitching. The most common hitting drills used in the Rec Center are different variations of soft-toss and doing tee work. The team has a portable mound that the pitchers use to throw bullpen sessions during practice. The team also uses the second level which consists of a track to do conditioning and work on speed and agility.
